Concrete Regolith (Highbrook)

Sited at Highbrook Sculpture Garden, Pelham NY

Iron oxide (iii) and water from High Brook, organic pigment binder, architectural fragments from the Highbrook Highline Bridge, Pelham, NY

2019-ongoing

I stained fragments of the Historic cast concrete train bridge overpass with iron oxide(iii) I collected from a small pooling of the brook at the side of the bridge, and arranged smaller concrete fragments around the larger ones. The historic commuter railroad bridge and surrounding housing were built over the brook they were named after, but the brook only makes itself known in this one spot, through its red color.
